Intra-Oral Dental Assisting Levels 1 & 2
This program will address the unique challenges faced by dental employers that requires staff to assume a wide range of responsibilities and equipped the graduate with skills to contribute in all areas of the dental office.
The program will prepare students to begin a career in the dental assisting field. Students will learn how to take and process radiographs, polish teeth, apply fluoride treatments; instruct clients in oral hygiene; place pit and fissure sealants; apply topical anesthetic; apply desensitizing agents; polish restorations; oral irrigation; apply over-the counter whitening agents, or take preliminary impressions for study casts.
Students will also receive hands-on training preparing treatment rooms, sterilizing dental equipment, assisting dentists with suctioning apparatus, and preparing dental materials. Administrative training includes office procedures, submission of dental insurance and appointment control.
In addition, students are provided with an understanding of the expanding role dental assistants play in today’s workplace to prepare them for entry-level employment in the dental assisting field.
Upon successful completion of our program, students may be eligible to sit for the National Dental Assisting Education Board (NDAEB)examination. All dental assistants wishing to perform intra-oral duties (Level II) in the Province of Ontario are required to hold the NDAEB certificate..
